We re hugely grateful for all of our 2018 charters ~ you make our job fun and worthwhile – it is a joy to see new persons experience the joy of fishing. We are thankful the bluefin found our hooks this year ~ the tuna gods were generous. Of course we cannot do that without our customers – we thank each and every one of you.

We wish everyone a peaceful, safe, holiday season, and a happy, fish-filled New Year 2019!

Scaggs and the Whippany Dudes joined Tuna Hunter for their annual bluefin tuna fishing charter and this year battled and boated an 820 lb giant bluefin tuna!

The battle took 2 1/2 hours, and all went smoothly after a bit of anchor juggling at the beginning, Par for the course for a bluefin tuna battle. This fish was extra sweet for all, as this was their 4th year, first giant, plus, the group is from the captain’s home town of Whippany, NJ.

This giant bluefin was the largest caught on the weekend of the Cape Ann Bluefin Blowout presented by Lynn Waugh Auto Group. Alas, we were not in the tournament – No matter to the Whippany Dudes – they were happy to celebrate their fish with friends, family and the rest of the tournament crowd at Cape Ann Marina.

Nick and the crew from Boston Premier Remodeling joined Tuna Hunter for their annual July striped bass fishing charter and hauled home plenty of prime striped bass to keep everyone’s grill going for a few weekends.

We enjoy these guys every year – a gift to us to see great friends and great fishermen return each year – and more important, they have fun and catch fish.

Gloucester striped bass are hitting bunker – plentiful in our area right now – and mackerel, live and chunks. A full day, morning or evening striped bass fishing makes for a fine day on the waters of Cape Ann, followed by a tasty grilled bass dinner.

Striped Bass are here through September – plenty of time to fit your striper fishing trip in before the fall migration south.

Haddock fishing aboard Tuna Hunter is in full swing right now ~ it is pure Haddock Heaven on Jeffrey’s Ledge and Stellwagen Bank. Charters are enjoying steady catches, limiting out, and are treated to a great whale show.

Congratulations to the Pineapple Gang, who fished their hearts out this May, and were treated to an awesome whale show at the same time. We are wishing them the best on their travels this summer.

There is plenty of bait and life on the fishing grounds, so we expect this great fishing to continue.

October bluefin tuna fishing on Tuna Hunter continues to be awesome, with a mix of giants (tag and release) and smaller Bluefin (under 3 inches) for charters to take home. All week, charters have been battling giants and smaller bluefin, taking home tuna loins for the grill and sushi.

Tuna Hunter will be fishing into November, for as long as weather allows and the bluefin are in our Cape Ann waters. We were happy to have great father and son action this weekend – a great way to get young anglers interested for life.

Giant bluefin – over 73 inches – are tag and release. Bluefin under 73 inches may be retained by the charter – one 47 to 73, two 27 to 47 inches. (Regulations may change!)

Tuna Hunter is fishing as long as weather conditions allow – the fishing grounds have plenty of bait , plenty of Bluefin of different sizes, and low crowds.

Bluefin Tuna Action Continues!

Giant bluefin tuna fishing on Tuna Hunter continues through the fall, for as long as weather allows and the bluefin are in our Cape Ann waters.

Yet another recent trip yielded three tagged giant bluefin. A few days before, our charter went home with a porbeagle shark and tagged a giant bluefin in the same afternoon.
